Planificando rutas / Planning routes

Everyone that has planned a road trip knows that the biggest "head-pains" happen before starting. The coffee and Google Maps became the best friend and the worst enemy at the same time.

This is the stage where we are right now, finding out which route we should choose to arrive at our first destination and first party with our rally colleagues, at the Lofoten Islands.

From the starting point (Hamburg), we have the possibility to cross Denmark up to Malmö, following by Sweden direction to Stockholm. Once there, the plan is to continue trough the Baltic coast, crossing Umea to, some kilometres after turn to the inside of the country to arrive at Kiruna. From this last village to Lofoten is a direct way

What we like most of this route is that takes less time, as goes trough flatter areas and allows us to know more part of Sweden that the other route.

Esta es la ruta del Báltico. Unos 2.900km aproximadamente, íntegramente en coche. Estimamos unas 41h de viaje.

This is the Baltic route. 2.900km, fully by car. Around 41h of travel time.

The other option is to cross Denmark heading North, to cross over Sweden using a ferry fro Frederikshavn to Göteborg. On land again, we will continue the road trough Oslo up to the Trolls road (Trollstigen) and the Atlantic Road.

Once in the Atlantic coast, our route follows the coastline up to the Lofoten Islands.

As of this route, we like that goes trough highlands, that sould provide better landscapes. Also, gives us the opportunity to visit Oslo and Göteborg. On the other side, although making less kms by car, the difficult of the road and the ferry makes the journey almost 6 hours longer.

This is the Atlantic route. 2.800km by car and 4 hours in a ferry fron Denmark to Sweden. We estimate 47 hours of travel time.

Said that, we would like to know your opinion  experience-based, point of view or crazy ideas. Everything will be welcome. Of course, you are not limited to the poll, at the end of the page you can add comments to express yourself with more freedom.

Gracias a todos!

      Buen apunte
